Goals for February 8th, 2010

9

Here are my goals for this week. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.

1. Eat fast food no more than 3 times! Let me clarify this by saying that this will take place between Monday and Friday. Saturday and Sunday, I’m free to eat as much fast food as my heart desires. This is gonna be tough.

2. Prepare food for each day. This is something that I rarely do, but need to start this habit.

3. Finish The Total Money Makeover: A Proven Plan for Financial Fitness by Dave Ramsey.

Gratitude: I am  so grateful that the first budget meeting my girlfriend and I had for 2010 was a success. I feel better about our relationship and our financial situation.

    And I finished my book!

  2. It’s Thursday night and I’ve only eaten out once this week. Interestingly, I’m feeling better about myself and really enjoying the food I have been making. 1 more day.

  3. Monday – NO EATING OUT!

    Tuesday – NO EATING OUT!

    Hi Ronnie,

Your boyfriend sounds like me. This is a habit that I just need to work at.

    Thank you for your feedback.

    Me in Millions,

I totally agree with you. When I look at your numbers and see how much you spend in comparison to me, I have a clearer vision on what I need to do. It’s been my biggest challenge, but I will overcome it. Thank you, as always, for your support and inspiration. You’re really doing quite well for yourself and you should be proud.

My boyfriend used to have this problem in a big way! He hated buying groceries because of the cost, but fast food was a small amount at a time (which, of course, was always higher than what groceries would’ve cost). Now he makes food the night before, not the morning of, when there’s always a rush. I make sure there’s enough food for a couple of sandwiches per day, or some Hot Pockets. He works two jobs back to back so there’s not always time for something homemade. But try doing it the night before, put a post-it note on the door to remind you to take your lunch, and take it day by day. Eventually you’ll cut back to much less than 3 times a week. BTW, love Total Money Makeover. Best of luck to you!

  8. Once you find money saving habits for the kitchen, such as meal planning and food preparation you will notice some huge savings. I have found this is the easiest bill to shrink when budgeting.

    Good luck with your goals.

  9. If you want to get out of debt faster, you should avoid going out altogether. Seriously it is such a money suck.
